What to Pack
What to Pack for Any Adventure Season
Billings experiences all four seasons in full, so planning what to pack makes a big difference in how comfortable your trip will be.

summer
In summer, you’ll find long, warm days with highs often reaching the upper 80s and plenty of sunshine.
Light clothing such as shorts, t-shirts, and breathable fabrics are perfect for exploring, but since nights can cool off quickly, it’s wise to bring a light jacket or sweater.
Hiking shoes, sun hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are essentials for enjoying the trails, river walks and outdoor events.

winter
Winter transforms the city into a magical, snowy landscape, with average lows dipping well below freezing.
To stay comfortable, bring insulated outerwear, snow boots, gloves, scarves and hats. Layering is key, with thermal undergarments, sweaters and waterproof gear to help you explore even in snowy conditions.

Spring & Fall
Spring and fall are more unpredictable, with temperatures that can swing from crisp mornings to mild afternoons in the same day.
A mix of layers, like t-shirts, long sleeves, mid-weight jackets and comfortable walking shoes will prepare you for changing weather.
Fall in particular can bring early frosts by late September, while spring often mixes sunshine with occasional rain showers.

gear up
Don’t worry if you forgot something, or something just didn’t fit in the suitcase. Billings has all the shops and outfitters you’ll need to gear up and enjoy a mighty Montana adventure any time of year.
